Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the seventh edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, an event he conceptualised as the chief minister to attract global investors to the state.
Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore and South Africa will be partner countries in the Summit.
The biennial event will be held between January 11 and January 13, 2015 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
Chief Minister Anandiben Patel extended invitations to more than 1,000 industrialists, diplomats, captains of Indian Industry and other Indian states to partner and participate in the summit.
"I am sure that with seven partner-countries in this seventh edition of Vibrant, we all will together strive to see that India shines across seven seas.
"I am also pleased to add here that 7 RCR (Prime Minister) has kindly consented to the presence of the Prime Minister at the inaugural session," the chief minister said at the curtain-raiser event of the summit here today.
This is for the first time that seven countries have tied up with the state for the event but the number may increase. In 2003, only Japan and Canada had partnered the countries, said K T Vyas, Officer on Special Duty Industrial Extension Bureau, which is looking after organising the event.
Elaborating on the role of the partner-countries, Vyas said they will have a delegation led by a minister or of that rank.
"The countries will also be given space for exhibition wherein there would be opportunities for joint venture and attract investments in their countries as well," Vyas added.
Finance and Industries Minister Saurabh Patel said that when the initiative started in 2003, there was no partner country but the figure has increased to seven.
