A division bench, comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Yashwant Verma, passed the order on the PIL filed by one Anil Mavi, a resident of Dadri in Gautam Buddh Nagar, who has charged that the private company has "encroached" land meant for a pond and a crematorium for raising constructions. The petitioner has also alleged that when he brought the matter to the notice of the District Magistrate, the official in his reply dated June 10, 2015 "admitted that constructions have come up on land that was meant for pond and but instead of taking any action he merely asked the construction company to leave some land vacant elsewhere for a new pond and a new crematorium".
