"We appreciate the situation in Sainik Farms is far from acceptable. We know unauthorised construction is going on there. It is evident that policy decision should have been taken in 2010 by the Centre. It is August 2014 now and decision has not yet seen the light of the day.
"Consequently, while adding Union of India as a party in the matter, we also issue notice to it to respond to the above by next date of hearing. Renotify on September 17," a bench of justices B D Ahmed and S Mridul said.
SDMC was asked to file the affidavit after it told the court that it has taken action against over 100 illegal constructions in Sainik Farms here.
The court sarcastically remarked that the illegal constructions in Sainik Farms "are like some deities", and thus "they spring up from the ground and no building material is required".
The bench, which was not satisfied by Delhi government's responses to the queries raised earlier by the court, directed it to file "a proper affidavit".
The court on May 29, 2014, had directed Delhi government to file an affidavit disclosing details of the meetings and questionnaires sent to SDMC along with their responses.
