Actor Amber Heard has defended her former husband Johnny Depp's "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" sequel casting, saying she hopes the Hollywood star does well in his future endervours.
Heard's statement comes after author JK Rowling, who is penning the script for the "Fantastic Beasts" franchise, defended Depp, as a lot of fans questioned his casting following domestic violence allegations made by the 31-year- old "Justice League" actor.
In a statement on social media, Heard said she and Depp shared a relationship, which was "intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love".
"... Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains. There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity," the statement on Twitter read.
The actor had initially given her statement to Warner Bros, but decdied to make it public after the studio included only "10 words of the original statement" in their comments, while standing up for Depp, who features as evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the upcoming film.
Last year, Heard filed for divorce from and a restraining order against the "Murder on the Orient Express" actor, narrating several incidents of physical, verbal and emotional abuse throughout their marriage.
On December 7, Rowling had shared her response to a fan on social media, who questioned the author's agreement to let Depp be a part of the film.
She wrote back saying although she understood the concern of Harry Potter fans regarding their choice to continue with Depp in the role, the directors, along with her were "genuinely happy" to have him onboard the project.
"... Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies," Rowling wrote.
She added both she and David Yates had considered the possibility of recasting the role for "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindlewald".
