Delhi witnessed light showers in some parts even as people continued to suffer due to high humidity levels which oscillated between 82 and 61 per cent during the day, the weatherman said.
The maximum temperature in the national capital settled at 35 degrees Celsius, up two notches above normal while the minimum was registered at 27.6.
Incessant rains triggered landslides at several places in Uttarakhand affecting Chaardham Yatra and traffic movement on national highways and other roads.
Intense rains have occurred near Kedarnath, scene of a massive flash flood tragedy last year, and 103.75 mm rainfall was recorded in Ukhimath tehsil in the past 24 hours.
The rivers the region, including Ganga and Yumuna, are in spate and flowing near the danger level marks.
In Himachal Pradesh, heavy downpour triggered landslides in several regions, clogging interior roads. Marginal fall in day temperatures was recorded at Kangra, Mandi, Chamba and adjoining districts.
Dehra Gopipur, Dharamsala and Gaggal gauged 218 mm, 190 mm and 109 mm of rains.
Maximum rainfall of 10 cm was recorded in Jaitaran town in Pali district, followed by Desuri (Pali), Ameth (Rajsamand) and Naya Nagar (Ajmer) 9 cm-each.
Meanwhile, Muggy weather conditions persisted in neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab, where Mercury recorded maximum 34.8 deg C at Hisar.
The weather department said that maximum in Union Territory Chandigarh went a notch above and settled at 33.2 deg C.
In Punjab, Amritsar witnessed rainfall light showers and its maximum was 32.5 deg C while Ludhiana and Patiala had highs of 33 deg C and 33.4 deg C respectively.
