Heavy rains in mid and lower hills of Himachal

With the monsoon remaining active over the region, several areas in the mid and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh received heavy rains today, leading to a drop in mercury by a few notches.
The maximum dropped by one to two degrees, while there was no significant change in the minimum temperatures and they remained steady.
Baijnath in Kangra district received the maximum 115 mm of rainfall followed by Rajgarh 56 mm, Bhoranj 37, Mashobra 35, Nahan 34, Nadaun 33, Renuka 32, Kotkhai and Jubbal 25 mm each, Paonta Sahib 21, Shimla and Jhandutta 19 each, Jogindernagar and Mandi 17 mm each, Karsog 16 and Dharampur 15 mm.

Una recorded the highest maximum temperature of 33 degrees, whereas Sundernagar and Solan recorded maximums of 29.1 and 28 degrees Celsius. Bhuntar recorded a high of 26 degrees, Nahan 24.7, Shimla 20.9 and Kalpa 20 degrees Celsius.
Mashobra registered a minimum temperature of 12 degrees, the lowest in the state.
Tribal areas of Keylong and Kalpa recorded a low of 13.9 and 13.6 degrees, followed by Manali and Shimla 15.6 degrees, Nahan 17.1, Palampur 18.5, Solan 19.5, Bhuntar 20, Dharamsala 20.6 and Sundernagar 21.7 degrees Celsius.
The MeT office has predicted rains and thunderstorms at several places in the state over next week.
