Addressing a video conference with district collectors from the secretariat here, state Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma instructed them to closely monitor the crop conditions and assess the village-wise situation to facilitate and guide the farmers.
He said all steps be taken to publicise awareness among the farmers on crop insurance scheme and also review the status on the crop loans with the district bankers.
"District officials should also prepare the contingency plans in the event of continuance of dry spell in any particular region of the state," Sharma said.
Speaking on the occasion, C Parthasarathi, Commissioner and Principal Secretary Agriculture, asked the district authorities to remain alert throughout the kharif season in order to provide help to the farmers.
Reviewing the status of supply of agricultural inputs and fertilisers in the state, he stated that sufficient stocks of seeds and fertilisers are available in case of any contingent plan to be operationalised.
He also directed the teams of agriculture officials and scientists to be well prepared and also gather accurate information on rainfall and crop conditions for benefit of the farmers.
