Himachal govt to regularise part-time peons

The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today decided to regularise part-time peons who have been working in education department for the past 17 years, officials said.
"The part-time water carriers cum peons, recruited under 1996 policy, who have rendered 17 years of continuous service as on March 31 and September 30 would be regularised and would also be given option for posting or adjustment in other districts, subject to availability," a spokesperson said.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to the Draft Bill to make provision for regularisation of retailers of tobacco products in Himachal Pradesh, prohibiting sale of loose cigarettes and beedis and regulation of retail business of cigarettes and other tobacco products. The bill would be introduced in the assembly during the coming monsoon session.

The Cabinet also decided to frame Himachal Pradesh Home Guards Welfare Rules 2016, benefiting Home Guards and their families as the funds for their welfare will be raised by the contribution of Home Guards Volunteers at the rate of Rs 120 per annum or in the form of donations received.
The bill also proposes to enhance the financial powers of the commissioner besides enhancing the penalties under the municipal laws which were not sufficient at present so as to make them more deterrent.
In a bid to control the growing number of stray dogs' population, it is proposed to make a provision for sterilisation or vaccination of dogs with the help of Animal Husbandry Department.

The Cabinet also decided to provide financial assistance to film promoters so as to give impetus to film making in the state based on Art and Craft, History, Culture, Archaeology, Language, Literature, Contemporary Arts, Traditional and Tribal Folk Music, dance, drama, Cuisine, Fiction, Tourism, Environment and social issues.
Approval was also accorded to enter into Tripartite MoU with the Centre, Government of Himachal Pradesh and HPSEBL for implementation of Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojna (UDAY).
A decision was taken by the Cabinet to lease out the tourism sites at Jhatingri (Mandi), Shojha in Banjar (Kullu), Suketi (Sirmour), Baddi (Solan) and Bilaspur to private sector on Public Private Partnership mode.
