This follows a government notification of August 1 which said that eateries and bars can remain open till 1.30 am in Pune and Nagpur cities.
Sunil Ramanand, joint commissioner of police, said the process to extend the closing time was underway for two years and the state Government had sought feedback from the police. "After receiving positive feedback from us, the notification was issued," he said.
The earlier closing time for eateries and bars was 11.30 pm. A few months ago, Pune police extended it to 12.30 am.
In Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane the eateries are already allowed to operate till 1.30 am.
