Himachal Pradesh reels under fierce cold conditions

Tribal and lower hills of Himachal Pradesh reeled under fierce cold conditions even as state capital Shimla witnessed its hottest day in December in the past eight years, MeT officials said today.
"Shimla recorded a high of 22 degrees Celsius, the highest since December 8, 2008. The temperature recorded then was 20.5 degrees Celsius. Solan recorded 28 degrees Celsius, the highest since December 23, 2007, when it recorded 27 degrees Celsius," Director of the local MeT office Manmohan Singh said.
Keylong recorded minimum temperature at minus 5.1 degrees Celsius while Bhuntar, Sundernagar, Manali and Kalpa shivered at minus 1 degrees Celsius each.

Besides, Sundernagar minus 0.3 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees Celsius and 2.2 degrees Celsius.
Una in Shivalik foothills adjoining Punjab recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius followed Solan 6 degrees Celsiusand Palampur 8.5 degrees Celsius.
However, Shimla, Nahan and Dharamsala were warmer with minimum temperatures at 12.5 degrees Celsius,10.1 degrees Celsius and 9.8 degrees Celsius respectively.
Una recorded a high of 26.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 22.7 degrees Celsius, Shimla 22.0 degrees Celsius, Nahan 20.5 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 17.8 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar degrees Celsius and Manali 17.0 degrees Celsius and Kalpa 15.6degrees Celsius.
The local Met office has predicted dry weather in the region over the next six days.
