HLP puts govt on radar, demands action in corruption case

The Himachal Lokhit Party (HLP), which was formed by BJP dissidents on the issue of corruption, today asked the Congress-led state government to take prompt and time bound action in all corruption cases.
"We want the government to act effectively and fast against corruption but so far there has not been any concrete action in this direction. The party has taken notice of 'double talk' of the government," HLP chief Maheshwar Singh said.
Ruling out the possibility of HLP's merger with the Congress, Singh said, "we not going to wait and watch the government indefinitely. A strong public action will follow, if the Congress government did not act against corruption, illegal land deals and phone tapping cases," he warned.

Fighting corruption was main plank of the HLP and the Congress government which had also made corruption against the BJP as a main issue should probe all cases of corruption and take them to logical end, he said.
He alleged that hundreds of illegal land deals were made during BJP government but till date Congress government has taken action against only land deal near Sadhupul which belongs to Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust.
"The state government should probe all the shady land deals at the earliest to let the people of the state know the truth," he said, adding that the Congress government should make its stand clear on the land leased to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) by the BJP government.

He asked the government to explain as to what was stopping it from constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the cases of corruption, especially the dubious and illegal land deals.
On illegal phone tapping during the BJP government, Singh said action should be taken against those responsible "instead of handing over the case to vigilance department".
