Hold internal dialogue with all stakeholders on J-K: CPI

The CPI today pitched for holding internal dialogue with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir to reverse the "erosion" of Article 370, which grants special status to the state.
The Left party also suggested giving autonomous structures within the state, a process, which it said, will entail changes in Constitutional and legal scheme.
In a statement, issued after conclusion of its two-day national executive meeting here yesterday, the CPI asked BJP to "not politicise" Uri attack and surgical strike by the army and also decided to work towards defeating the saffron party in forthcoming polls in five states including Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

"The internal dialogue with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir should proceed on the basis of reversing the erosion of Article 370. The three regions of the state: Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Ladakh should have autonomous structures within the state.
"This will entail changes in the constitutional and legal scheme which can begin by revising the existing orders and laws. Ultimately, a fresh political framework should emerge," the party said in the statement.
Expressing concerns over "deteriorating situation" along Line of Control (LoC) amid strained ties between India and Pakistan, it said, the BJP "should not politicise" Uri terror attack and surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan- occupied-Kashmir by the army.

Deliberating upcoming assembly polls in UP, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand, the party said it decided to evolve electoral tactics in view of defeating BJP as well as winning back the representation of CPI in these assemblies.

"It (national executive) decided to finalise the tactics at the coming national council meeting of the party that will be held in Hyderabad on December 21, 22 and 23," the statement reads.
The CPI has decided to observe December 6, which marks the death anniversary of Constitution's Architect BR Ambedkar and demolition of Babri mosque, as "day against communalism and casteism".
The party also plans to organise programmes throughout the year, beginning November 7, to observe centenary of October Revolution.

Party general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy, national secretary D Raja and other executive members took part in the meeting presided over by CPI state secretary Bhalchandra Kango.
