Streets got rainbow-coloured as people played with colours of different hues to mark Holi, known as 'Dolyatra' in the state.
At 'Gurudev' Rabindranath Tagore's abode of Shantiniketan, thousands of people from different parts of the country and even abroad gathered to celebrate 'Basanto Utsav' (Spring festival).
After the customary 'prabhat pheri', the tourists were treated with recitals of Tagore songs and dances on the occasion.
The day was celebrated with religious fervour at the Vaishnavite shrines of Nabadwip in Nadia district and at the ISCKON headquarters in the nearby Mayapur town.
