Hoshangabad collector to get National Award for Excellent Work

Hoshangabad district collector Sanket Bhondve will be honoured with National Award for Excellent Work in the field of rehabilitation and upliftment of disabled persons.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give National Award to Bhondve for Excellent Works for rehabilitation and upliftment of disabled person at a function in New Delhi on December 3," an official release said today.
In Hoshangabad, various welfare programmes and activities for upliftment of the disabled persons have yielded encouraging results and the Central government has selected Hoshangabad in the category of best districts, it said.
To make differently-abled persons self-reliant, development block level introductory conventions of would-be disabled grooms and brides were held.

As many as 51 disabled couples', including Muslims couples, marriages were solemnised at mass marriage functions at district level, it said.
The couples were provided a grant of Rs 50,000 each and their Aadhar cards and Jan-Dhan bank accounts were opened on the spot and sanction orders issued pertaining to Rupay Card and benefits under other government schemes.

So far, 101 such couples have tied the nuptial knot in the district.
They have also been given jobs in private institutions as per their eligibility by holding job fairs, it said.
A special campaign was conducted for recruitment of disabled persons in government service and vacancies filled. Besides, they were also benefited under various government schemes.

Disabled persons were trained in various trades and provided self-employment through bank loans, it said.
The district also constructed obstruction free ramps in all government offices in the district to facilitate disabled persons, it added.
