The first day of October was uncharacteristically hot with the maximum temperature settling three notches above normal at 36.9 degrees Celsius.
Residents of the national capital also experienced uneasiness as the humidity level oscillated between 31 and 79 per cent. The minimum temperature was recorded at 24.3 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal.
In Punjab and Haryana, maximum temperatures hovered around normal level in most parts.
Hisar remained the hottest with the maximum settling at 37.7 degrees Celsius, according to a MeT department report.
The Union Territory of Chandigarh had a high of 34 degrees Celsius and also recorded light rainfall at 1 mm.
In Punjab, the mercury in Amritsar and Ludhiana settled at 34.8 and 33.5 degrees Celsius while Patiala's high was 33.4 degrees.
