Housing subsidy handed over to poor families

Puducherry government accorded priority for housing facilities for poor families belonging to Scheduled Castes and Other Backward classes, Local Administration Minister N G Panneerselvam said today.
With a view to enabling the families to replace their huts with concrete houses, the administration was implementing the housing subsidy scheme under the banner 'Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Housing scheme".
Distributing subsidy to 34 families, he said the beneficiares were granted a total sum of Rs 44 lakhs towards construction of houses under the scheme.
He said the government was keen that all the huts were replaced at the earliest by concrete houses.
