How could Vadra be given clean chit without probe, asks Irani

"How can a senior minister of the Union government, even without conducting a thorough probe into his deals, claim that Vadra has done nothing wrong?" Irani told reporters on the sidelines of BJP Mahila Morcha sammelan here.

On the allegations of syphoning off funds and forgery by an NGO run by Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife in Uttar Pradesh, Irani said the government has touched a "new low", as they have taken away the money meant for disabled beneficiaries.

Irani, who is also the national president of BJP Mahila Morcha, said that atrocities against women were on the rise in the Congress-ruled states, which she described as being "a testimony to the deteriorating law and order situation".

Taking potshots at the Congress leadership, she said "If Sonia Gandhi has power, she should have thrown out Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state."

Urging the BJP women workers, who had gathered for the meet, Irani said that women should vote against Centre's "anti-people policies, which has given rise to unemployment, poverty and inflation".

"In Gujarat, as long as Narendra Modi is at the helm of affairs, public should not be afraid because the state is in safe hands," Irani added.

The television-actor turned politician lauded the chief minister for providing uninterrupted power in the state, "even as the rest of the country was grappling with power crisis", employment to youth and carrying out schemes for the benefit for women.

Earlier, local BJP leaders lashed out at the Congress government for failing to deliver on its poll promise (made during 2009 Lok Sabha elections) of reducing inflation within 100 days.

Assembly election in Gujarat is scheduled on December 13 and 17 and counting of votes would take place on December 20.
