A sum of Rs 7.044 crore would be spent on education during 2018-19, which is the highest allocation in the budget, Education minister Suresh Bharadwaj said today.

Presiding over the annual prize distribution of Government Post Graduate College at Rohroo, he said that the government educational institutions have been mainly instrumental in rapid strides in education and high literacy rate and the government was spending more than 16 per cent of the total budget on education.

He said that the government would remove the irritants in implementation of RUSA (Rashtriya Uchattar Shiksha Abhiyan), but its roll back was not possible as large amounts of funds were coming through this programme and even the Rohroo college have received Rs 70 lakh under RUSA.

Bharadwaj said that the government was contemplating to bring a transfer policy for the teachers as the existing policy had benefited a small section of teachers, while the remaining teachers suffered and did not get their choice station despite a long span of service.
