HPTDC registers 16.12 per cent increase in turnover

Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has registered 16.12 per cent increase in its turnover and earned a net profit of Rs 715.78 lakh, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said.
Presiding over a meeting of the Board of Directors of HPTDC, Singh emphasised that the corporation should be run on professional lines like any other commercial organisation and the promotion of the employees henceforth should be linked with profitability and performance of the corporation.
The HPTDC Board raised concern of over-staffing in a few units and took a decision on rationalisation of the staff and also suggested that the surplus staff of the corporation be transferred to Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).

Stressing that the corporation should be slim and trim for efficiency and output, a decision was taken to shift the extra staff from the overcrowded units and it was made clear that no interference in this regard would be tolerated.
Suggestions also poured in regarding audit of all wings in the hotels of the corporations including house-keeping section. The Chief Minister said the staff should ensure that all the linen and beddings are changed during every check-out and proper inspection are conducted.
It was decided to build additional ten rooms in Kiarighat in Solan district, besides parking and other facilities. Singh also directed to take steps to ascertain the availability of sufficient water at Kiarighat before taking up the project.

The Chief Minister also asked the concerned officials to explore the possibility of constructing a circuit house at Kasauli as many high end tourists visit the hill station and it would be profitable venture for the government.
The board decided to re-think over the property of the corporation at Manikaran in Kullu district and suggested to take up the matter in consultation with Deputy Commissioner as the building was likely to sustain the flow of the river downstream if adequate measures are not taken.
He directed that encroachments on land of the corporation be removed and specially directed to look into encroachments on the corporation's land in Sojha in Kullu district. He also asked to take up the matter regarding the possession of Hotel Mandav in Mandi since the ITI campus had been shifted to Kamand and only skeleton staff was there.
