The HRD Ministry has directed all its staff to remain present on October 2 to mark the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission and actively participate in the cleanliness oath taking ceremony.
The day is otherwise observed as a national holiday across the country.
"All the employees are directed to actively participate in the pledge taking ceremony. All bureau heads in both the departments of HRD Ministry (school education and higher education) are requested to ensure presence of all the employees of their respective bureaus," the Ministry communication said.
The cleanliness oath will be administered to all the employees of the Ministry at 9.45 am and all officials are directed to report at 9 am, the communication said.
The employees will participate in a cleanliness drive after the oath taking function.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the programme on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi from India Gate and 2500 students from government schools across the city are slated to participate in it.
Earlier, HRD Minister Smriti Irani had launched the swachh Bharat Vidyalaya Abhiyan from a Kendriya Vidyalaya here on September 25, calling upon all to contribute towards the cleanliness drive and make it a success.
