Jail officials found 27 new cellphones, two notebook computers, a mini CD player and over 300 CDs, five chargers and cell batteries and two old cellphones, 190 beedi bundles and some cigarette packets in the parcel, they said.
A jail warder on duty had seen the parcel being flung from across the compound wall early yesterday. But before he could reach the spot, near the gallows and close to high security block, where some of the 1998 serial bomb blast case convicts are lodged, some prisoners picked it and fled from the scene.
Subsequently, an intense search was carried out in the jail for the parcel which was found dumped on the terrace late in the evening, police said adding further investigations were on.
