"Although this decision will waste about seven months of the students, this loss can be compensated by making this decision permanent for the future," a Hurriyat spokesman said.
He said if the March session is not made permanent, it is sheer injustice to postpone the exams and it will not only waste a whole year of thousands of students but in the next year they will not be able to complete their syllabus in view of short duration.
He said the existing academic calendar makes students wait for several months before they can get admission in professional courses outside the state.
"Admissions to the professional courses outside the state are usually held in the month of May. So, the desirous students of our state have to wait for many months to get the admission and during this period they have to face many difficulties," he said.
