Hinduja Ventures Ltd today said it would provide cable TV services through Headend-In-The-Sky (HITS) system under the brand 'NXT Digital'.
Its subsidiary Grant Investment Ltd (GIL), which has received government's nod for HITS services has signed Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA) with Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Hinduja Ventures Ltd (HVL) said in a statement.
"With the signing of GOPA, GIL has now got all its approvals cleared from the government of India, which includes mainly from MIB and Department of Telecommunications for HITS platform," HVL said in a statement.
The company would roll out 'NXT Digital' services in August this year.
Commenting on the development, GIL Managing Director Tony D'silva said: "I am delighted to announce that our HITS initiative is called NXT Digital. We believe it will strongly support the laudable national mission to roll out digital addressable system for broadcasting all over India."
He added: "We would roll out the services in August this year. NXT Digital is here to help the distribution fraternity in analog markets make a smooth and timely transition to digital and we are hopeful it will help write what could perhaps be the biggest chapter in Make in India story."
HITS is a mode of delivering channels through a satellite multiplex service that enables customers to pick and choose channels.
Under this regime, an operator receives all pay channels at one centralised location in the country and there they are decoded and re-encrypted and then again uplinked to a satellite.
Then, the MSO (multiple-system operator) at different parts of the country downlinks and distributes it.
