Impetus to ramp up India headcount by 450 people in 2 years

IT firm Impetus will ramp up its headcount in India to over 2,000 people in the next two years, hiring about 450 people as it looks to tap into the burgeoning Big Data space.
The company, which has a total headcount of about 1,600 people, has over 1,500 people across centres in Indore, Noida, Bangalore and Gurgaon and another 100 people in the US.
"Our growth is quite remarkable and we are experiencing a good requirement of new work force. We have ambitious plans for hiring by the next two years and the goal is to add about 450 people in our team in India," Impetus Technologies CTO Vineet Tyagi told PTI.

There will be substantial increase in the US workforce too with another 50 people being added over the same time, he added.
"We are also planning a number of outstation drives (Recruitment activities in cities where Impetus does not have its office) to source talent," Tyagi said.
The company, however, declined to comment on its revenues.

Founded in 1991, Impetus is head quartered in Los Gatos, US. Its clients include firms like Pitney Bowes, Intuit, comscore, D&B and Kronos among others.
"Big Data is the future and therefore, has immense potential from both employment as well as business perspectives. The world around is all data driven. From social media to the e-commerce, everything is powered by data and information," he said.

Analysts and experts have projected a 40 per cent growth rate in global data generation per year. Such a scenario presents the opportunity for business in almost every business sectors, be it banking, retail, telecommunication, e-commerce or healthcare, Tyagi added.
He said there is a huge gap between demand and supply of skilled individuals in Big Data.
Citing an industry study, Tyagi said the US alone could face a shortage of 140,000 to 190,000 people with deep analytical training (in statistics or machine learning) by by 2018.
"These numbers are equally relevant for the Indian market.
With many multinational companies making their talent hub in India, Big Data will continue to be the most demanded area for the next five years," he added.

Tyagi said while the company will focus on lateral hires, it will hire fresher candidates through campus drives to bring in young technical minds as well.
