AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal today mounted a stinging attack on the BJP accusing it of throwing "muck" on him to escape an imminent defeat and said people of Delhi will punish the party for resorting to a "negative" campaign.
On the penultimate day of the high-voltage campaign, Kejriwal addressed a number of rallies where he came down hard on BJP for not following a "constructive and positive" campaign for the polls.
"If my opponents continue telling lies about me, I will continue telling the truth about them," he said.
Kejriwal once again dared Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to arrest him on the donation issue and took serious note of the his "IRS officer" jibe at him.
Kejriwal said he had been an Income Tax Commissioner and "know very well any investigation in such hawala case could be completed within 24 hours".
Earlier, Jaitely had said, "He (Kejriwal) should be honest enough to tell the people what 'Arvind Kejriwal, IRS' would have done under these circumstances?"
"...But the govt is not doing so (arresting him), rather it is trying to throw muck on my face," Kejriwal said addressing rallies at Moti Nagar and Rajouri Garden constituencies.
Taking a dig at Modi for his promise of ensuring security of women in the national capital, Kejriwal said records show that crime against women has increased by 25 per cent in the city in the last seven months.
The former chief minister also ridiculed Prime Minister's 'Jan Dhan Yojna' claiming lakhs of accounts opened under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet scheme have 'no money' and people will get insurance benefits under it only after death.
"I heard the Prime Minister talking about opening bank accounts of lakhs of people (under Jan Dhan Yojna) but then where is the money? He now said that they will give insurance of Rs 1 lakh, which a person will get after he dies," he said in an election meeting at Tilak Nagar.
"Had they said all these thing before the polls, then would people have voted for them?" Kejriwal asked, claiming that the NDA government has been brandishing 'Jan Dhan Yojna' as its achievement during the Delhi Assembly election rallies.
