Indian Bureau of Mines officer goes missing in Odisha

The assistant controller of mines at the Indian Bureau of Mines has been missing since November 25, with the police still clueless about his whereabouts.
Ibrahim Sharif (34), hailing from Karnataka, has been staying with his family at Nigam Vihar in Phase-II of Kanan Vihar under Infocity police station area here.
Sharif's wife Salma Begum in her FIR has said he remained untraceable since he left for office in his scooter at 10 AM on Monday.
Police found the scooter parked in front of a private hospital in Chandrasekharpur area, barely 200 metre from the Indian Bureau of Mines's regional office here.

"Police were yet to get any lead to trace him. Police teams may visit different states to search him," Commissioner of Police R P Sharma said.
Sharif's mobile was activated only for two seconds on November 26 and it was located at Allahabad at that time.

Suspecting abduction of her husband, Salma Begum appealed for safe return of her husband.
"I appeal through the media for his safe return." Salma said.
"As he didn't come home for lunch on Monday, we rang him up and found his mobile switched off. We then tried his office telephone, but his colleagues said he had not come to the office," said Sharif's father-in-law Khasni Pir.

Salma said she did not know whether Sharif had any enemy.
An assistant controller of mines, Sharif's nature of work made him visit mines and undertake inspection for enforcement of rules of mineral conservation and development.
He last visited some mines in Barbil area of Keonjhar district in September.
