The two-day meeting of the India-Pakistan joint working group was the second such meet in as many months and discussed the possibility of trucking petrol, diesel and furnace oil through the Wagah land border.

A Commerce Ministry source was quoted by Dawn newspaper as saying that the talks were "largely inconclusive".

The joint working group was empowered to discuss in detail several issues, including upgrading infrastructure, customs facilitation and banking channels to facilitate energy trade between the two countries.

This was the third round of talks overall on trade in petroleum products and the next meeting is scheduled to be held in Islamabad.

Pakistan's new Commerce Secretary Munir Qureshi said Pakistan remained committed to pursue further trade liberalisation with India as Islamabad has switched its trade regime with Delhi from a positive list to a negative list.

Both sides have made progress on the issue of importing electricity and petrol, he said.

The joint working group has been given the task of finalising procedures and deliberating on details for trade in electricity and petrol.
