Inspector held for accepting bribe

A police inspector was today arrested on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 for not raiding a bar, DVAC officials today said.
Sivakasi town police station inspector Ramachandran had demanded bribe from the bar manager but the latter complained to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption following which a trap was laid, DVAC Inspector Vijaya Kandiban said.
The manager was instructed to pay the bribe and Ramachandran was caught red-handed when he accepted the amount at home this morning, the official said.
