Jutice Mir, who demits office on April 24, said he always tried his best to maintain the core values of judiciary and to provide speedy justice to the people, especially to the families who lost their bread earners in road accidents.
He served for three and half years as CJ of the HP high court and would demit office upon superannuation.
All through his tenure, he specially laid stress on resolving disputes through mediation, Lok Adalats and also held successful pre-litigation mediation, he recalled here at a function where he was accorded farewell by the judges, judicial officers and staff of the high Court.
Noting that the new complex of HP State Judicial Academy and a premier institution like the National Law University have come up in the state during Justice Mir's tenure, Justice Karol said his contribution to the legal system as also social and cultural system is immense.
"His understanding of diversified fields like poetry, religion and history truly makes him a good human being with a large heart," Justice Karol remarked.
Shrawan Dogra, Advocate General and Chairman of Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh, said Justice Mir is known for his honesty, sincerity and devotion towards his duties.
Assistant Solicitor General of India Ashok Sharma said Justice Mir is not only a "complete judge" but also a "complete human being".
"His spiritual level is always reflected in his conduct inside and outside the court," Sharma said.
Justice Mir was posted as principal district and sessions judge, Kupwara in the year 1993 and also served as presiding officer, designated court of TADA/special judge, POTA for Kashmir division.
He was appointed as additional judge of the high court of Jammu and Kashmir on January 31, 2005 and later as permanent judge on July 7, 2007.
