"It would be the first such plant of IOCL in the state," this was informed by B V Rama Gopal Executive Director (In-charge), Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, after a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal here today.
He also urged the Chief Minister to provide the land of Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in Panipat for setting up of this plant, according to an official release.
The Chief Minister asked him to send a proposal to the state government in this regard and assured that his request would be considered favourably.
"Twenty per cent of the ethanol produced through this technique could directly be mixed in petrol," he said, as per the release.
He said that after the harvesting season, people used to burn the agriculture residue in the fields which resulted in large scale pollution in the area, especially during the winter season.
"The setting up of this plant would not only help in getting rid of this problem, but also ensure proper utilisation of agricultural residue by generating ethanol," he said.
