The court had suspended Zaka Ashraf as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board last month after constitutional writ petitions were filed in the court against his election.
The court had ordered the inter provincial coordination ministry to appoint an interim Chairman to look after the Board affairs and attend the ICC annual meetings in London.
But after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Sethi as acting Chairman, the same court ordered the inter provincial coordination ministry to explain the decision given that his name was not in the list of candidates submitted by the ministry.
The court also ordered that the elections should be supervised by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Interestingly, Sethi won a major round when representatives of some regional associations, who had filed petitions against the election of Zaka Ashraf, told the court through their lawyers that they supported any decision to give Sethi time to hold fresh elections.
"The court has reposed confidence in me and there is a lot to do in Pakistan cricket which is at its lowest ebb now. It will take a lot of hard work to set things right," Sethi told reporters outside the court.
