Islamic authority in Egypt condemns new caricature

Egypt's state sponsored top Islamic authority today condemned a new provocative caricature in French magazine Charlie Hedbo, saying it incites sectarianism and obstructs dialogue.
Dar al-Ifta, a semi-governmental Islamic authority, said in a statement today that the new issue of Charlie Hebdo will cause a "new wave of hatred" in France and the West in general, and will not serve the dialogue between civilisations which Muslims seek.
The Islamic authority described the Charlie Hebdo's decision as an act "unjustifiably provocative" to the feelings of a billion and a half Muslims worldwide who love and respect the Prophet.
The statement also denounced the recent attacks against mosques in France saying that it gives extremists from both sides a chance to exchange violence.

At the end of the statement, al-Ifta requested that the French government, political parties and organisations condemn Charlie Hebdo's "racist act which works to incite sectarianism."
Recently Charlie Hebdo announced that it will publish a front page showing a caricature of the Prophet.
