Islamic Centre cum Convention hall to come up in Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today decided to set up an Islamic Centre cum Convention hall of international standards at a cost of Rs 40 crore in Hyderabad.
The proposed Centre-cum-Convention hall will come up on a sprawling six acres of Wakf land situated in Manikonda area, a release issued by the CM's office said.
Rao, held discussions with senior officials, regarding minority welfare, it said.
The CM wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take steps to conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Urdu medium.
There are thousands of students who are studying in Urdu medium in the country and for their benefit NEET should be conducted in Urdu medium, Rao said in the letter.
While thanking the PM for conducting NEET, which is a uniform test to students all over the country, the CM said since NEET is conducted in some regional languages, it should also be conducted in Urdu, the release said.
The Chief Minister also cleared proposal to set up an orphanage for Muslims at a cost of Rs 21 crore at Nampally in the city, the release said.
He has instructed officials concerned to make arrangements for the conduct of DSC (District Selection Committee) test to recruit teachers for Urdu Schools and Colleges.
The release said Rs 8.48 crore has been released for the comprehensive development of Mecca Masjid here. It quoted Rao as saying that Mecca Masjid is not only sacred place but also one of the landmarks in the city and that repair and restoration works should be done forthwith.
