Union Minister Jayant Sinha today criticised former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for not trying to "stop corruption", hours after the latter denied charges against his previous UPA government by the BJP.
"Isn't it wrong not to stop corruption?" replied the Union Minister of State for Finance when asked for his comments on Singh hitting out at the Narendra Modi government for charging the previous UPA government during is speech at the NSUI National Convention earlier in the day.
On Singh's claim that institutions of democracy were under threat, Sinha said he could say whatever he liked.
During an informal chat with reporters here, Sinha gave a report card of performance in his Lok Sabha constituency underlining the Hazaribagh-Koderma railway project, MoU between the Jharkhand government and the NTPC for a 4,000 MW power project at Patratu and settlement of arrears with the Damodar Valley Corporation.
He also gave details on projects for road, drinking water, health, sanitation, tourism and sports in his constitution and described BJP's winning an absolute majority in Jharkhand as a big achievement after 14 years of political instability.
