Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil today sought resignation of Maharashtra Tribal Development Minister Vishnu Savara over the children's deaths in Mokhada tehsil reportedly due to malnutrition and said the issue will be raised in the Legislative Assembly.
"The Chief Minister (Devendra Fadnavis) did not show the courage to remove Savara. Fadnavis is supporting the minister. But Savara needs to be sacked from the Cabinet for his miserable failures and performance," he said.
"It is due to non-performance and misdeeds of the state government that the tribals could not get any assistance and the children died in Mokhada tehsil," Patil alleged, adding instead of consoling the family, Savara reportedly made some arrogant remarks.
"Congress will raise the issue of malnutrition in the Assembly," The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly said and alleged, "After the BJP government came at the Centre and in Maharashtra, tribal programmes are being played upon with."
He also alleged that like farmers, tribals are not on the priority list of the BJP-Sena government.
