Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today said it was the responsibility of the Centre to safeguard the interests of the state and fulfil promises made during its bifurcation in 2014.
"It is the responsibility of the Central government to safeguard and protect the interests of the new (residuary) state," he said while talking to reporters on his second day of visit here.
The Centre has to fulfil all the assurances given to the state under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 which led to the creation of Telangana, Naidu said.
The TDP-led government has been demanding special category status for AP, a special development package, funds for the new capital and incentives for industries, among other things.
Talking about development in the native district of YSR Congress President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Naidu said "a lot has to be done to develop Kadapa district."
He said the Government is working out modalities to take up developmental works in Kadapa in a big way. In this context, Naidu will again visit Kadapa on April 25-26.
Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple located in Ontimitta town near here will be developed as a 'holy city' as well as a tourist spot, the Chief Minister said.
