'J-K govt committed to equitable development of all regions'

The Jammu and Kashmir government is committed to equitable development of all three regions of the state and measures are afoot to fulfil the promises made to the people on development front, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said today.
Chairing a review meeting of the civil and police administration at the Civil Secretariat here, he said, "The government is committed to equitable development of all three regions of the state and measures are afoot to fulfil the promises made to the people on development front."
The meeting discussed matters related to security and development and reviewed projects undertaken in the flood-affected areas of the state.

"Timely completion of large infrastructure projects is necessary to address development aspirations of the people," Chand said, adding that the state government had taken several initiatives to develop Jammu City on modern lines.
"The Mubarak Mandi Heritage Project is one such ambitious plan which aims to develop the complex into a major tourist spot of the region," he said.
"Tourism potential of the region has to be exploited to the maximum by promoting pilgrimage and upgrading facilities at major tourist spots," Chand said.
Artificial lake on Tawi River, Cable Car Project, Golf Course in Sidhra and Cultural Heritage Centre are among the major initiatives taken up by the NC-Congress government for all-round development of the city and its adjoining areas, he added.
