Council member Nurboo Gialchan moved the resolution in the House for carving out Ladakh of Kashmir division.
Speaking on the issue, Gialchan batted strongly for carving out a separate Ladakh division in the backdrop of its distinguished cultural and geographical features.
Later, the resolution was adopted by the Legislative Council.
Two other resolutions, moved by council members Bashir Ahmed Magray and B A Veeri, were withdrawn after assurance from the government.
Magray's resolution was regarding implementation of the Ribbon Development Act, while the resolution moved by Veeri was about creation of separate, seasonal and temporary administrative set-up for smooth conduct of the Amarnath yatra.
