Noisy scenes today forced Speaker Shashank Sekhar Bhokta to adjourn the assembly thrice in the first half today amid a verbal duel between a Jharkhand minister and his party legislator and the BJP demanding a CBI probe into the Silgain clash in which one person was killed on July 29 last.
Each time the House met after two adjournments following a ruckus, BJP MLAs accompanied by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) MLA Nirbhay Sahabadi, who has already announced to join BJP, did not allow the Speaker to conduct House business, shouting for a CBI probe into the Silgain clash.
Ruling JMM MLAs Mathura Mahato and Jagannath Mahato and Ramdas Soren added to the din, demanding announcement of the local policy that had been assured by the Hemant Soren government earlier.
Another JMM MLA Simon Marandi, who was sacked by the chief minister from his Cabinet recently, slammed the government accusing it of remaining a mute spectator when some people had attacked his house in Dumka district on July 23 over a land dispute.
Reacting to Marandi's charges, Rural Works Minister Lobin Hembram reminded him how the JMM had welcomed Marandi back to the party fold, gave him a poll ticket after he quit the Congress and yet he was targetting the party.
Pacifying the members, the Speaker directed the government to address Marandi's charges.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Prasad Singh assured the chair that he would ask Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar to probe into the charges levelled by Marandi and place the report in the House on August 5.
All the while, the BJP led by former speaker C P Singh, frequently went to the well to demand a CBI probe under Chanho police station in Ranchi district.
"We want a CBI probe into the incident," Singh told reporters after the House was adjourned till 2 pm.
