JIPMER to provide facility for liver transplant

Jawaharlal institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), a premier medical institution in Central sector here, has drawn up plans to introduce the facility for liver transplant.
A release from the Director of JIPMER T S Ravikumar said that the liver transplant facility would be launched during this year and already the hospital has facilities for kidney and bone marrow transplants since 2012.
As part of introducing multi organ transplants the institute would make available the facility for liver transplant during this year.
Among the eleven new projects that were in the pipeline now included the establishment of an apex emergency trauma disaster management Centre.

JIPMER was empanelled in the Tamilnadu Chief Minister's comprehensive health insurance scheme in 2013 to extend the health reach for the families coming under below poverty line category.
