Terming the protests by teachers and students bodies "unlawful", the JNU administration today said a few people had caused huge administrative and financial loss to the university.
Due to the protests, the processing of bills and scholarship applications were hit, especially during the final two weeks of the current fiscal, JNU Registrar Pramod Kumar said in a statement.
"The JNUTA and JNUSU strike over the past two weeks has caused a huge administrative and financial loss to the university.
"This happened because of a handful of students and teachers who carried out totally uncalled for and unlawful activities," he said.
Kumar appealed to the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) and the JNU Teachers' Association (JNUTA) to refrain from holding protests.
"The unlawful lock out of several buildings and offices has caused enormous inconvenience and the academic loss caused by unrelenting strikes is difficult to reckon at this stage," the registrar said.
"The administration has discussed these issues with the deans and chairpersons, and has also invited all interested faculty members for a dialogue to resolve the issue at the earliest," he said.
