Jodhpur in Rajasthan is among the top 10 preferred destinations that travellers have on their wishlists for the upcoming year, a recent study has revealed.
On the basis of the study, derived by an algorithm based on year-over-year increase in customers' positive review ratings for accommodations, restaurants, attractions, and booking interest, popular travel portal, TripAdvisor recently announced their "Travellers' Choice Awards for Destinations on the Rise" for the year of 2017.
The award list, which recognizes 43 destinations from across the globe, this time has been topped by the laid-back local scene of San Jose del Cabo in Mexico.
Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, bagged the top spot in Asia (5th internationally) and Jodhpur ranked third in the Asia list and 10th in the global ranking.
The second largest city in Rajasthan, Jodhpur is a reflection of the royal lineage it has witnessed for centuries.
Majestic forts and palaces, that are remnants of the glorious past, adorn the landscape of this popular tourist attraction.
One of the royal mansions include the Ratan Vilas, a 1920 structure that has been beautifully refurbished into a hotel and "provides a wondrous setting to recharge and enjoy Jodhpur's magnificent setting".
The impressive Mehrangarh Fort which is one of the oldest forts in India and 'offers sweeping views of the Blue City' is also a major attraction.
"The destinations on this list are great options for Indian travellers to start thinking about their 2017 holiday plans.
"It's also exciting to see an Indian city, Jodhpur, making it to the world list this year which only reinstates India's increasing popularity as a global tourist destination," Nikhil Ganju, Country Manager, TripAdvisor India, said.
Other destinations on the global top 10 list include Whistler in Canada (2), Jericoacoara in Brazil (3), Kihei in Hawaii (4), El Nido in Philippines (6), Eilat in Israel (7), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain (8) and Tbilisi in Georgia (9).
