Erstwhile Congress government led by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat became "inefficient" and got "riddled with corruption" as Kamat's ministers used to "overrule" him in cabinet meetings, a Goa minister stated in Legislative Assembly today.
State Transport Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar's Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) is a constituent of the BJP-led government in the coastal state.
He was also part of the then Kamat-led government.
"A few ministers in that government bulldozed certain decisions (of Kamat). I was bound by oath that Cabinet affairs should not be discussed in public by ministers. This is the very reason I kept quiet all this while, but now I am exposing it on floor of the House," said Dhavalikar.
Kamat had served as CM during June 2007 to March 2012.
He was speaking during a discussion on a No-Confidence Motion moved by Opposition benches against Laxmikant Parsekar government.
Dhavlikar's MGP had forged a pre-poll alliance with BJP in run-up to state Assembly elections in 2012.
"...Some ministers in the Kamat-led government were disrespecting the administrative rules," he said.
Criticising the Opposition for bringing the motion, Dhavlikar said, "When Manohar Parrikar-led BJP government took over in year 2012 from Congress, it had had a liability of Rs 1,500 crore in the form of pending bills.
"(Since then) We (government) paid all the bills...The era of development began during BJP government's tenure. Works worth Rs 12,000 crore are in the pipeline now," he said.
The minister said, "it is not necessary that all things promised in (poll) manifesto should be completed".
