Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha today flagged off a Kanpur-bound MEMU train from Phaphund railway station here.
The Mainline Electric Multiple Unit train no. 64590/64589 will start from Phaphund in the morning and from Kanpur in the evening.
On the appeal of Kanpur Rural MP Devendra Singh Bhole, the train was launched between Kanpur rural and Kanpur districts.
The Centre is making efforts to make rail services comfortable for the people, Sinha said.
Work on automatic railway crossings and over-bridges are going on at high speed, he said.
A major portion of Railway budget is being spent on Uttar Pradesh and many issues coming up with North Central Railways are also being resolved, he said.
Bhole had been demanding the train in the region for long and now the commuters would not have to face problems, the minister said.
Bhole, local MLAs and senior railway officials were also present on the occasion.
