Kejriwal to take up Karan Pandey case with Centre

Delhi government plans to take up the case of a 19-year-old biker, who was allegedly shot dead by an inspector last year, besides discussing law and order situation in the city with the Centre in coming days.
"Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be taking up the case of Karan Pandey with the Centre," said a government spokesperson here today.
The official, however, did not specify who the Chief Minister would be meeting in this regard.
"Last year, Delhi Police had shot dead a young man, Karan Pandey, in the middle of the road claiming that he belonged to a biker gang. A magistrate's enquiry in the case had found Delhi police claims to be wrong. He was just a pillion rider and his family had repeatedly said that he was murdered," said the official.

The official said Kejriwal in its meeting would want to know what action has been taken in that case following a submission of the magisterial inquiry report.
In the meeting, an alleged case of gang-rape which took place yesterday would also mentioned, added the official.

A 28-year-old married woman had yesterday alleged that she was raped by her friend in a moving car in East Delhi.
Pandey was shot dead on July 27.
Police had claimed that Pandey, who was riding pillion with his friend was part of a biker gang which turned rowdy and pelted stone at the PCR van on the fateful night, following which PCR inspector Rajneesh Parmar accidentally shot Pandey.

However, the report by the district magistrate has termed the police version as "highly doubtful" and said that police used "unnecessary force.
