The Kerala Government will organise a 'Development Partners Conclave' to seek technical and financial aid for rebuilding the State ravaged by devastating floods last year, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said Thursday.
The CPI(M)-led LDF government had on July 3 held discussions with World Bank officials and other representatives of various agencies in this regard, Vijayan told reporters here.
"To realise the rebuild Kerala initiative, we need more aid and technical help from the national and international agencies.
For this we have organised a development meet, 'Development Partners Conclave', on July 15 in the state capital," he said.
He said the government had held discussions with the World Bank country director for India.
"A team led by the additional Chief Secretary from the Water Resources Ministry met the World Bank India Director and other representatives of various international and national agencies and discussed the various developmental suggestions of Kerala," Vijayan said.
The German state-owned development bank KfW has assured a help of Rs 1400 crore for the reconstruction of roads which got destroyed in the August deluge, he said.
The southern state had witnessed one of the worst floods in 100 years in August last year which claimed over 400 lives and destroyed thousands of homes.
