Ker SHRC asks LDF to call off proposed siege of CM's house

Kerala State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) today asked the CPI(M)-led LDF Opposition to call off its proposed indefinite siege of the official residence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy from December 10 over the Solar panel scam.
SHRC Chairman K B Koshy asked LDF Convener Vaikom Viswam to withdraw the blockade planned as part of its agitation seeking resignation of Chandy over the Solar issue, while disposing a petition filed by a public servant, official sources said here.
Without going into the merit and demerit of the issues involved, the SHRC asked LDF to call off the proposed siege considering the difficulties Chief Minister and other ministers, who reside nearby, would have to undergo.

The LDF as part of its ongoing agitation against Chandy had announced an indefinite blockade of the CM's official residence 'Cliff House' over the issue.
Over the last few months, LDF has been staging protests wherever Chandy tours as part of its campaign demanding his resignation over the scam.
They have been pressing for Chandy's resignation in the backdrop of the scam, pertaining to financial cheating of several people by promoters of a private firm offering them solar energy solutions.
The LDF has been alleging that the fraudsters had the support of Chandy and his office. Though government had ordered a judicial probe, the LDF have refused to give up their demand.
