Kerala HC quashes civic body order against Dileep's multiplex

The Kerala High Court today quashed an order of a local body directing closure of a multiplex owned by Malayalam film actor Dileep for allegedly using high-power generator without necessary licence.
Allowing a petition by Dileep's brother, Justice K Vinod Chandran held that the Municipal Council of Chalakudy in Thrissur district had no authority to pass the order directing closure of the "D Cinemaas".
Spelling fresh trouble for Dileep, arrested on July 10 on charges of plotting the alleged abduction and sexual harassment of an actress here in February, the civic body had last week issued the closure order.
It had alleged that licence was not obtained by the authorities of the multiplex for using high-power generator.

Petitioner Anoop contended they possessed all permits and licence from the statutory authorities and that the order of the municipality was illegal.
