Yahoo's most recent permanent CEO, Scott Thompson, resigned in May amid allegations of manipulating his educational qualifications, just five months after he was hired.

"Yahoo Inc is considering Jason Kilar, the chief of video site Hulu LLC, for its permanent CEO position," The Wall Street Journal reported citing a source.

Apart from Kilar, Yahoo's interim CEO Ross Levinsohn and several other unnamed candidates are also being considered for the job, the report said.

According to the publication, Kilar didn't immediately respond to requests for comment while Yahoo spokeswoman declined to comment.

Whoever takes over the helm of Yahoo, will confront many challenges, as the internet company is facing tough competition from Google Inc, Facebook Inc and others in areas like online advertising.
