Keeping in mind the U-17 World Cup in 2017, the Karnataka Football Association today unanimously accepted the bid of a consortium to reconstruct the Bangalore Football Stadium and will recommend it to the state government for its approval.
"The Tender Scrutiny and Evaluation Committee set up by us unanimously accepted the bid of a consortium comprising Ozone Group Football Academy Private Limited and Hines India Real Estate Private Limited, and unanimously decided to recommend to the government of Karnataka for approval of reconstructing and redeveloping Bangalore Football Stadium to host U-17 World Cup," Karnataka State Football Association President A R Khaleel said in a statement here.
Earlier, it was being reported in some sections of the media that the city could lose the opportunity of hosting the U-17 World Cup for KSFA's failure to call for tender for reconstruction and redevelopment of the stadium.
However, FIFA Tournament Director Javier Ceppi, in his visit to the city on June 11, said that the officials of the international body would take a call on the new stadium if there is some development before January next year.
Khaleel said the committee opened the financial proposals of the two eligible bidders and observed that the consortium led by Tuscan Consultants and Developers Private Limited have submitted a consolidated financial proposal of Rs 525 crore and another consortium led by Ozone Group Football Academy Private Limited have submitted a consolidated financial proposal of Rs 675 crore.
The committee was set up by KSFA comprising members of the core committee of the KSFA, representatives of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike.
"The legal and financial advisers of KSFA examined the technical bids submitted by the said entities, and evaluated the bids in the background of compliance with technical criteria, as set out under the tender notification dated June 8, 2015, and the tender documents," Khaleel said.
Khaleel said KSFA had invited sealed bids on July 8 through tender process from interested bidders for reconstruction and redevelopment of the stadium and its ancillary developments on a Build, Operate and Transfer basis for a 30-year period on a leave and license basis for completion of the stadium by March 31, 2017 to host World Cup.
Khaleel said three consortium of bidders - Ruscan Consultants and Developers Private Limited, JSW Bengaluru Football Club Private Limited and Ozone Group Football Academy Private Limited - submitted their bids.
Khaleel said the proposal submitted by consortium led by JSW Bengaluru Football Club was found to have not satisfied the technical qualification criteria.
